What I wanted was an alternative to soda. What I got was something much, much juicier. Literally. I love that this is made with raw food and is nutrient dense. While I don’t claim it is a perfect solution for everyone all the time, it was exactly what I needed this day. It’s got all the antioxidant boost you could want as well as a healthy dose of raw, local honey.
Ingredients:
6-7 limes, juiced
1# sweet cherries, pitted
3/4 cup raw local honey, or to taste.
Blend on high until all the cherry parts are almost too small to see, about 2-3 minutes.
Store in an airtight jar in the fridge overnight.
Next day serve cold as follows: Fill tall glass with ice, shake the jar well before opening, and pour your glass half-full of limeade mix, and fill remainder with water or sparkling water. muddle and serve immediately.
This is still a sweet, but has much more in the way of nutrition and less in the way of additives. The natural burgundy color (I used black cherries) is better looking too. It isn’t your usual cherry limeade–it’s better.
